CB Networks™ Review - "Maia Zakay"

Welcome to the official first review on Christian Bodwin Networks of the super talented, one and only Maia Natalie Zakay. Maia is an upcoming singer/song writer out of Los Angeles California. Maia’s music is truly full of life and catchy lyrics bless your ears today and stream “Maia Zakay on all music platforms today. I discovered her first on #soundcloud and ever since hearing her song “2 Nice” the song just really was well worded,the harmony and melody just flowed perfectly. Whenever I’m down or having a bad day I listen to Maia Zakay it will make you feel better. 

1.What inspired you to do music? 

My career is extremely important because my entire purpose for writing and singing is to help my listeners through my music and make this world a better place using my different platforms. 

When people listen to my music, it's like they're reading my 'not-so-secret' diary. Each song I put out tells a personal story, and I get told that my listeners really feel my emotions that I put into the songs, which is something I take pride in. I want my listeners to connect with my music on an emotional level. I want them to feel that there is hope no matter what struggles they are facing in life, and realize that they are not alone.

I've always loved music from a young age and sang covers of songs for fun, but I never took it seriously until I reached the age of 17.  I started going through dark times in my life and needed a way to feel better about the situation. That's when I wrote my first song. I showed my dad and he immediately freaked out and found a producer who brought my song to life.

 


My first day in that music studio is where I truly fell in love with the art of songwriting, singing, and engineering. When I put my first song out and started seeing all the positive feedback on it, like how it has helped others feel less alone and even stopped them from taking their own life a couple times, I knew I wanted to do this as a full-time career. My passion for helping others by also being a mental health advocate is what drives me to continue creating new songs and to keep posting on all socials. Music is basically my oxygen, I can't live without it.

2.Who is your all time favorite artist ? 

Drake and Ariana Grande. Drake because I love how he has so many different genres and his music has helped me through a lot of different emotions and moods.

Ariana because she has been an inspiration and an idol while I started out in the industry. A lot of people compare my vocals to Ariana which is a HUGE compliment because she has INSANE vocal ability!

I would listen to her songs and tried to copy her when I first started out. Once I felt comfortable with how I sounded, I switched it up to my own sound.

3. Where do you see your musical career in the next 5 years? 

Everything I am currently doing but on a larger scale! Tiktok Live streaming to a larger audience. Getting prepared for my first tour after I drop my next EP which I am working on at the moment. 

Getting on big shows like Jimmy Fallon, etc.

4. When you won your first award how did you feel? 

Winning the HMMA (Hollywood Music in Media Awards) Best Independent Artist Song Award for my song "Keep Me Waiting" was a huge accomplishment.

It made me feel very proud and strengthened my belief in myself that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing and to keep going!

5. How does it feel to have one of the world's most amazing Dads? 

I am extremely lucky to have 2 supportive parents with my music career! They both believed in my talent and did not force me to go to college or get a 9 to 5 job.

My dad has been instrumental in getting me to the point I am at today. He believed in me before I even believed in myself and funded my entire journey to releasing my first album.

Today, I make a living with my music career and my dad is still there as my "dadager". He goes with me to meetings and gives me advice and is a key member of my team!

6. If you could perform with any artist who would it be and why? 

My top 3 artists that I would want to perform with are:

1) Drake

2) Doja Cat

3) Justin Bieber

All 3 of these artists have a similar voice and style/genre to what I am going for with my artistry, and I'm sure I can learn a huge amount of knowledge from each of them for my own growth.

7. What is something you want to tell an upcoming artist?

My true advice would be to teach yourself as much as you can because knowledge is power, and being independent will save you a lot of money, and help you in the future. Stay true to who you are, and don't let the setbacks of the music industry change your spirit because giving up is NOT an option when you have a gift that can heal people and make this world a better place.
